Please subscribe yourself to vsg-local (the replacement list for
vsg-announce) to receive announcements about VSG events. You were all on it
before but when we changed the name your addressed weren't transferred
over.

Also, if you want to be on the inside track of what our group is doing,
subscribe to vsg-action.

Just type blanche -a <username> <listname>

Subject: VSG meeting minutes
Date: Sun, 30 Apr 95 22:09:05 EDT
From: krom@media.mit.edu (Matt Krom)

Upcoming VSG meetings:

Thursday, May 4th, 5:30pm, to make poster / organize for Monday's
booth. East Campus - Bemis Dorm, call 5-6366 from downstairs.

Thursday, May 11th, 5:30pm, location and agenda tba.

________
Minutes for VSG meeting, Thursday, 28 April.

1. We amended the constitution to accommodate the new offices created
at the last meeting (Publicity Chair, Social Chair, Recipe Chair, and
    ListMaintainer).

2. We elected new VSG officers:

President: Laura Dilley
Vice-president: Matt Krom
Secretary: Richard Barbalace
Treasurer: Mike Jacknis
Social Chair: Chad Charowhas
Publicity Chair: Richard Shyduroff
Recipe Chair: Ed Piekos
Co-ListMaint : Brett Rosen, Ariel Salomon

3. VSG has reserved space in Lobby 10 for a booth on Monday, May 8, to
present the Mother's Day Veal Ban. This event is coordinated by FARM,
the folks who brought us the Meat-Out. At the booth, we plan to
include
    - FARM's material on the veal ban
    - General health information (very likely the attractive "Meat-out
health
facts/quotes" sheet which Laura kept from the Meat-out)
    - Information about our group, our mailing lists, and URL
    - A signature sheet for interested folks to petition Lobell/LaVerde's
to
discontinue offering veal. (pending our confirmation that they do
carry
veal, and their stance, if any, on removing it)
    - friendly people to answer questions!

We will meet Thursday the 4th at 5:30pm to make a poster / finish
organizing (see top of this message)

4. We've received two interesting email messages recently. The first from
a
woman who publishes two small journals, offering free ad or logo space
for our group, "just to help." Laura will contact her to learn more.
The second message was received from the EarthSave foundation (founded
by John Robbins, author of "Diet for a New America"). They're starting
web pages, and were interested in ours. Their technical questions will
be
    forwarded to Brett.

5. Those interested in being active in planning VSG activities, join
    vsg-action@mit.edu! Add yourself on athena:
    "blanche vsg-action -a <username>" or send mail to vsg-request@mit.edu

6. Times were set for the next two VSG gatherings (see top of this message
for
    dates and times)

7. Laura and Ed finished writing our proposal for funding from the UA, and
    submitted it for (hopefully!) approval.
