I have copies of a NYTimes article on the first leg (1990?) of the Campbell
study.  it was the biggest epidimological study done ever - i dont have
the stats off hand but id be happy to send a copy (paper) to anyone
interested.  it reveals some very interesting things about meat
consumption vs cancer rates as well as protein consumption vs
osteoperosis (i.e. in areas of china where the lactose-intolerant
population drinks NO milk, they have no osteoperosis.  why?  because
they also eat little/no meat, so they do not have the excess protein
which causes calcurification. the high-protein american diet causes
calcium to be leeched from the bones, therefore it is meat-eating and
milk-drinking populations that are more likely to suffer from calcium
deficiency.)  much of this stuff is also talked about in robbin's Diet
for a New America - there are charts on calcium vs protein affect on
calcium deficency (i know it sounds weird, you should check it out!)
