1. Some brands of pop tarts contain gelatin; read the ingredients.
2. Be sure they do not use oyster sauce in Oriental cooking. (Laverde's sells
real oyster sauce, made with real oyster extracts.)
3. The Goosebeary's food truck uses oyster sauce in their tofu with
vegetables, but not in their other tofu dishes, they say. (I asked them to
clarify the signage to indicate this.)
Is there a vegetarian issues newsgroup?
Is there a list of animal products to watch out for? Here is a partial list:
gelatin
anything with a stearyl group : stearic acid; sodium stearate.
glycerin
