I have recently had a brief discussion with a member of this list on
how people often ask, "Just what do you eat if you're a vegetarian?"
This made me think of some more silly things that people say to me
about being a veggie:
"But that egg came from a chicken." (My response is that at least I
have taken a step in the right direction).
"Don't you ever want to have a nice steak?" (Well no, I've never
eaten steak in my life and I have no intention of starting now.)
"I'll not eat this bacon sandwich in front of you in case you get
offended".
"I suppose you don't eat beef flavour crisps". [That's chips to
Americans].
"Oh, you're a vegetarian - there's trout on the menu, will that do?
And my personal favourite - "How can you be a vegetarian if
you're a medical student?" I'd love to hear a good reply or
explanation in response to that one.
