Hello, All,
Back a few months ago I posted a query here, asking the
Collective Wisdom to recommend candidates for the most
vegetarian-friendly cities in the U.S for a story I'm writing for
Vegetarian Times. I received a good response (thanks!), and now
that I'm finally digging into the piece, I thought I'd share some
preliminary results and ask for further comments on the list
below. The cities recommended most frequently:
New York
Washington, DC
Seattle
Los Angeles
San Francisco
Toronto (Guess I'll include Canada)
Baltimore
Minneapolis/St. Paul
Philadelphia
Boulder
Santa Cruz
Houston
Denver
Madison, WI
San Diego
Chicago
Albuquerque
Atlanta
Berkeley
Boston
Eugene (OR)
Honolulu
Are there any gotta-have candidates missing here? Does everyone
listed above belong?
Not surprisingly, big cities prevail. But I'd like to profile at
least a few smaller veg-friendly locales, population 50,000 or
less. Any nominees? The loose set of criteria we're looking at
includes the existence of vegetarian restaurants, general
restaurants that are friendly to vegetarians, health food stores,
and support/resource groups.
I'd appreciate hearing your comments and suggestions. You can
reach me at markharris@igc.apc.org.
I'll attribute all comments I use in the article, and will post
final results for all to see.
Thanks again for your help.
Best wishes,
Mark Harris
