Subject: [EarthSave-events] Reminder: Mad Cow Talks Wed & Thu by Dr. Greger
      To: EarthSave-events@yahoogroups.com

*** MAD COW DISEASE: PLAGUE OF THE 21ST CENTURY? ***

Free talks by Michael Greger, MD presented by EarthSave Boston.
- Wednesday, January 28, 2004, Worcester MA: U.U. Church, 90 Holden
Street.
- Thursday, January 29, 2004, Cambridge, MA: MIT Green Building, Room
54-100; co-sponsored by the MIT Vegetarian Group.
- both talks at 7 PM; doors open 6:30.

Dr. Michael Greger will discuss the public health implications of the
mad cow crisis in the United States. Learn how the American beef
industry continues to risk public safety while the USDA remains
complacent, protecting business interests over those of the consumer.
Find out what you can do to protect your family from contracting the
human form of the disease and what steps we as a nation must take to
safeguard our food supply. Representatives from the National
Cattlemen's Beef Association have been invited to offer the
industry's perspective in debate with Dr. Greger.

Michael Greger, M.D., has been the Chief BSE (mad cow disease)
Investigator for Farm Sanctuary since 1993 and the Mad Cow
Coordinator for the Organic Consumers Association since 2001. Dr.
Greger has debated the National Cattlemen's Beef Association before
the FDA and was invited as an expert witness at the Oprah Winfrey
infamous "meat defamation" trial. He has contributed to many books
and articles on the subject, continues to lecture extensively and
currently runs the mad cow disease website
http://www.organicconsumers.org/madcow.htm. Dr. Greger is a graduate
of the Cornell University School of Agriculture and the Tufts
University School of Medicine. He can be reached for media inquiries
at 206-312-8640 or mhg1@cornell.edu (mhg1 at-sign cornell.edu).
