I think it's very interesting that the USRDA for calcium is far above what 
we really need.  This is to account for the increased calcium secretion which
is brought about by an extremely high protein (read: meat based) diet.  
Interestingly, we have one of the highest rates of milk consumption while
still having one of the highest rates of osteoporosis.  Think of that the next 
time someone accuses you of not getting enough protein.
