Do you read news groups? I've been flipping through rec.food.veg and there
seems to be a regular thread of discussion about B-12 requirements and
supplements and I thought I'd throw my $0.02 in.

First, read rec.food.veg and search for the B-12 threads.
Otherwise, this is what I can remember from what I read of a very detailed
article regarding B-12.

1. B-12 requirements, like all other vitamins and minerals, are highly
over estimated to make sure citizens get enough. And don't you know that
more = good? (hint o sarcasm here - it's late. I'm tired. I apologize in
advance).

2. You only need take B-12 supplement like once a month becuase your
physical need for B-12 is so miniscule but necessary nonetheless.

3. Sometimes B-12 can be found in the skins of vegetables (I'm not sure which
however) if they are not thoroughly scoured and peeled and sanitized before
eating. I remember something about B-12 being in the dirt or something and
a little dirt never hurt anyone....

Therefore, if what I read is true and I am remembering it correctly, the
daily intake of B-12 is unnecessary. However, a supplement of B-12 once
a month is necessary if you don't have dairy or meet. There's somthing
else but I can't remember.

Hope that helps. :)
