I tried a few other things. It seems (and I emphasize "seems" because I can't
prove it conclusively) like if I have an application open it prevents the
logout process from happening. The strange thing is that only some
applications trigger a "save now before closing?" query - other just hold the
logout process up such as the application "gaim" where no saving is needed.
