Hey Jared -
We're sort of roughly aware of problems with logouts (and logins)
taking a while.
There are two different issues here. First, logging out on Debathena is
a much less...violent process than it was in Athena 9. For example,
applications should prompt you to save before logging out, as opposed to
just being spontaneously killed. We think this is a major UI
improvement, but it does add to the logout time.
The other issue is related to the isolation mechanisms we have in place.
These mechanisms should allow you to make a wide variety of
modifications to a cluster machine while you're sitting there without
having them persist past your session. However, it does also cause the
logout to take longer.
We're planning to deploy some new code soon that will hopefully help us
track down what part of the process is slow; it's our hope that that
will help us iron out some of the slowness.
