athena10 printing issues

I set PRINTER to my local printer (leander). I then launch gedit, type a few
words then click on the Print button. I see a long list of cluster and
dorm printers, but not mine. I don't see any way to make it print my
document (no generic postscript option like on Athena 9.4).
Printing from the Matlab Desktop fails with a long list of Java exceptions
(works on Athena 9.4)- maybe this is Matlab's fault? Not sure-
Printing from Maple works (Java and non-Java interface). Printing from gv
works.
Zephyr notification when printing completes is not sent, even when printing
is successful.
