I think this is part of a bigger problem, namely that the people who
most want debathena-workstation are power users who are also the most
likely to have configured a local Ubuntu account with the same
username as their Kerberos principal.
I think rather than write up instructions, we need a utility that will
seamlessly convert a machine with a local account into a workstation
where users log in and get their Athena home directory, but are still
in the admin group. There is a separate discussion on the athena10
list right now about the right way of making this happen, but once we
determine that, it should be easy to come up with such a utility and
possibly integrate it into the installer.
I think this is not going to be the corner case that many people
expected, but rather will turn out to be the default use case for
~everyone installing debathena-workstation.
