Logging into geskekelud or dale (9.4.12):
Console window pops up, prints

(The previous time there was also a similar error about authwatch, but
it didn't appear the time I was transcribing error messages).
I get no panel, and no initial xterm, and no obvious way of creating
one.
Logging in remotely works.
Logging in as paco (test account) gives the same errors and the same
lack of usable windows.
