I don't normally use Evolution contacts, but I found that after creating
a contact, I got autocompletion after I typed the first three characters
of a name or email address.
Under Tools -> Preferences, I found a setting related to this in the
"Autocompletion" tag; make sure that under "On This Computer", Personal
is on. It should be on by default, though.
