I logged out of a 9.4.4 linux machine (opus) as sipbtest,
and xlogin restarted and over it, a gnome window popped up
telling me that GNOME panel had exited unexpectedly and
asked if I wanted to forward that info on to developers, etc.
I vageuly automatically clicked it away w/o thinking. I then
logged in to try to reproduce it, and logged out. xlogin did
not restart, and in the text mode vt(7), it reported:
vt: argh, driver_data is NULL ! [sic]
on vt(1), it says:
kernel: printing eip:
*pde = 0ae25067
Oops: 0000 [#11]
(it had printed this several, I guess 11 times. The NULL error
also ran off the top of the screen).
I also see that janetryu and wdaher have processes still running
on the machine, such as a bonobo-activation-server and a
yam_server and an evolution-data-server-1.0.
Lots of crap in the messages file. Still no X server.
Though starting one with X :0 appears to work.
