firefox default theme problem with gnome "Simple" theme

There seems to be a compatibility problem between firefox's default
theme, and the new GNOME default theme ("Simple"). Highlighted menu
items have the same white foreground and background colors, and so
become unreadable. Changing the GNOME theme to, say, "Crux", or
installing a new firefox theme (e.g. "GNOME-Fx"), makes things better.
