Okay. It's unlikely that I can resolve this problem without a
reproduction recipe (and even then, it might be too difficult), and the
eventual solution will probably be to ditch sawfish in favor of metacity
as the default windowmanager. Hopefully this is rare; let me know if
you see a lot of reports of it happening, or if it happens to users who
don't use multiple workspaces. (I'm just guessing that multiple
workspaces might be involved in whatever sequence of operations that
messes up sawfish's internal state.)
A temporary workaround is to 'pkill nautilus' (recognizing that this
will destroy the desktop window and any nautilus file-browswer windows)
to expose the lowered windows.
