Hi folks,
I'd be much obliged if you could help test the latest Star Office
patches on Athena- especially after I botched the release of patch 1
for Suns this week.
Testing is slightly involved due to the Star Office setup- you first
need to have run Star Office 7 (the current default) at least once for
the platform you want to test it on; then, cd to
~/.staroffice7.$ATHENA_SYS (where $ATHENA_SYS is either sun4x_59 or
i386_rh9), and look for links like this (in the Linux case):
setup -> /afs/.athena.mit.edu/software/soffice_v7.0/distrib/i386_rh9/staroffice7/program/setup
soffice -> /afs/.athena.mit.edu/software/soffice_v7.0/distrib/i386_rh9/staroffice7/program/soffice
spadmin -> /afs/.athena.mit.edu/software/soffice_v7.0/distrib/i386_rh9/staroffice7/program/soffice
Delete them, and replace them with similar links where "athena" near the start
of the path is replaced by ".athena". Then detach soffice_v7.0 if it's
currently attached and attach the R/W volume:
attach -t afs -m /mit/soffice_v7.0 -e /afs/.athena/software/soffice_v7.0
Launch it as: /mit/soffice_v7.0/arch/$ATHENA_SYS/bin/soffice

Hopefully everything will just work- sorry this is a bit involved. This should
work on Athena 9.2 as well as 9.3 machines. To revert to the pretesting state
remake the links as they were originally.
