There have been a series of fixes for 6.4R that were installed on the
packs today. There are a few changes to the workstation root.
The following instructions assume that you have taken previous
incremental updates to 6.4R. If you have not, I suggest you bump down
the version number in /etc/version and then update as normal.
First, how to take the update:
1) ^P login as root on your machine (which is already running 6.4R. If
not, simply update to 6.4R with instructions previously posted)
2) Type "/etc/athena/activate" - To attach the 6.4R packs.
3) Type "/etc/shutdown now"
In about 30 seconds, you will receive a WARNING message, ignore it.
4) Type "reset"
5) Type "/srvd/update_inc"
6) Type "reboot -q"
What is changed on the root:
/etc/named and /etc/athena/netconfig support dynamic ip assignment
/bin/login - fixed for fascist top level AFS homedirs.
/bin/athena/machtype - small fix on vax in determining CPU type.
/etc/athena/vdabort - symlink problem fixed.
/etc/athena/nameserver - removed - not used.
Other fixes on the urvd include:
Fixes to C library for dynamic ip
zwgc fixes from jtkohl (include man page)
purge fix from jik. Purge does not take and arguments and now complains
/usr/prototype_user link fixed on vax
As usual, if you have any problems, see me.
