gtkhtml + gconf failing on Solaris-Athena 9.2 -- process hangs

Hi,
I'm trying to get gnucash to work on 9.2, but there is a problem
in some of the support infrastructure I'm using. I'm logged in
remotely (not on the console), which may make a difference.
Here is what I did:
1) run gnucash
2) go to Help -> Help
3) see a nice printout on my console [1]
4) gdb attach the process
5) see it hanging trying to start gconf [2]
6) cry a lot and send email.
gtkhtml / gconf shouldn't be hanging like this. It certainly didn't
in 9.1 (although I admit gconf played much less of a role in 9.1).
Hopefully this can get fixed.
