Hi. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this display problem on my
laptop (even though it's running XFree 4 and has latin2/Type1 in its
xfs font path). There is one workaround I would like to try before
deciding to go with removing that directory from the font path.
So, if you could bring astrophel back to the state where it exhibits
the problem (that is, put latin2/Type1 back in /etc/X11/fs/config
where it was before, which was at the end of the /usr/X11R6
directories, and then restart the font server or reboot and verify
that you see the problem again), and then uncomment the following line
in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4:
# Load "type1" # Adobe Type 1 font handler
I don't think this will work (xfs is supposed to do the type 1 font
handling, I believe), but if it does work it's less likely to break
other things than simply removing the directory.
Thanks.
