Repeat by:

Log onto Linux 9.1 box
Log onto Solaris 9.1 box.
Run Nautilus on Solaris box.
Watch it scream and die.
Log out of both boxes.

Log onto JUST Solaris 9.1 box.
Run Nautilus
Watch it start up JUST FINE.

So, like early versions of SGI desktop, the infrastructure is sharing
something in AFS that chokes and dies.
