I was curious about some of the other 'problem' domains...
5 trials each using nslookup -d hostname:
www.inscoe.org all about 5 sec
www.cnet.com all under 1 sec
route-views.oregon-ix.net all about 5 sec
I don't know what's making them all so slow; network conditions are
good. Must be something on their end.
