AFS won't start on Linux box

I upgraded the Linux box 'shed' today to 9.0, and all appeared
to go well--with the key exception that now AFS won't start.
Here's what I see on the screen when I run '/etc/init.d/afs start':
/dev/hda6 132207 90113 35268 72% /usr/vice/cache
Failed to load AFS client, not starting AFS services.
Any ideas?
