On allegretto (ultra10) the update rebooted to:
The / file system (/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s1) is being checked.
/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s1: CANNOT READ: BLK 16
/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s1: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.
I think this was the first boot after untarring the miniroot, but was
called away from the machine for a couple of minutes so can't be
sure. If I try fsck:
CANNOT READ: BLK 16
CONTINUE? [yes]
THE FOLLOWING SECTORS COULD NOT BE READ: 16 17 18 [...] 31
[repeats this once, then returns to shell prompt]
