I've put out 9.0.1 for Linux. (I don't normally bump patch numbers
during alpha, but this is a special case.) It's based on Red Hat 7.1,
which uses kernel 2.4. The sysname has changed to i386_linux24, and
we're using an OpenAFS module.
The update from 9.0.0 to 9.0.1 is a little rocky, due to some bugs in
rpmlib (from 8.4, there is a "staging" rpmupdate which doesn't have
these bugs, but I haven't done that for 9.0). Here are workarounds:
* If the update claims to fail because the kernel post-install
script failed, just run /sbin/mkkerneldoth and edit the line
in /etc/athena/version to say 9.0.1 instead of 9.0.0.
* If the update script just sits there and doesn't give your
prompt back after saying the update has completed, just ^C
it.
Both problems are harmless apart from the needed workarounds.
