So I used /usr/athena/bin/passwd to change my Kerberos password. It
worked, but I found I could log into the machine (even after logging
out, and then rebooting) with my old password. In this case, the
login reports that Kerberos autentication faied, and then gives me a
local-only login.

It looks like a stale encrypted string was stuck in /etc/shadow. I
was unable to log with the old password after removing myself from
there and /etc/passwd.

Machine: no-whammies
Install: 8.4.5 Linux layered (fresh)

-B.
