I've put out 8.4.3 for Solaris and IRIX, and 8.4.2 for Linux. Changes
in this patch release include:
* Machines should copy netscape local nightly, and use the
local copy when /usr/athena/bin/netscape is run.
* sendmail.cf's bitnet support has been removed.
* glib and gtk were updated to 1.2.8.
* The xss defaults will now lock the screen one minute after
screensaving. (xss is still not run by the default
dotfiles, though.)
* Some difficult to exploit krb4 buffer overruns have been
fixed. For Solaris and IRIX, I have not yet rebuilt
everything which depends on Kerberos, since I will be
rebuilding the packs when we go to early. For Linux, I did
rebuild everything which depends on Kerberos, since I
probably won't be rebuilding all the RPMs for early.
* synctree is a little more careful about a bad
Linux/AFS/chown/setuid interaction.
And there are a couple of man page tweaks. On Solaris, watch for the
error:
/srvd/usr/athena/lib/update/update-os: no home directory
during the update (or in update.log, if the update happened
automatically). If you get this error, then the update essentially
failed and you should try again. I have no idea what could have
caused a "no home directory" error from the shell; if you do, please
let me know.
