8.3.6 is out for both platforms. Changes include:
* emacs discuss mode will bury the discuss-ls buffer when it
exits.
* olc, zctl, and discuss will set the application name for
readline so you can conditionalize on it in a .inputrc file.
* Zephyr will honor ZEPHYR_VARS and ZEPHYR_SUBS to find the
location of the .zephyr.vars and .zephyr.subs files.
(Although I think zwgc won't honor ZEPHYR_SUBS at the
moment, so leave a symlink.)
* The "Directory should not exist" error when attaching an NFS
locker is gone.
* The gratuitous.org krb5 realm has been added to krb5.conf.
* There is a Y2K bugfix in dash (relating to how it displays
the date, nothing too serious).
* bash is in /etc/shells.
* The default homedir dotfiles (.cshrc and .login) no longer
set a fallback path (it was a pretty crufty path), have had
grammar adjusted in the comments, and no longer refer to
Project Athena. They also use "stty sane" instead of "stty
dec" to create a sane terminal state in the fallback case.
* The athena boot-time script will nuke any existing /srvd,
/os, and /install symlinks on public machines.
* The athena boot-time script doesn't run sendmail -bz any
more.
* On IRIX, the athena boot-time script will force CD-ROM
devices to be world-writable on public machines.
* An emacs core dump has been fixed (relating to running M->
in a buffer with selective display and no terminating
newline).
* The rsh buffer size has been increased to work around a bug
in stdout/stderr separation.
* telnetd should be able to deal with Host Explorer now.
* The ifhp print filter has been fixed to equalize the top and
bottom margins when converting text to postscript.
* nmh no longer uses mhl to display messages. No more pretty
headers. Use "-showproc mhl" to get the pretty headers.
* If you show multiple messages at a time, you won't get MIME
processing.
* sysinfo should work on IRIX again.
* xscreensaver will raise its window in more cases, so zephyr
notices won't pile up on top of it.
* If you run xscreensaver as root, it will refuse to lock the
screen.
* Class HS queries should work more often.
