passwd.N is the SGI version of the file; inst leaves it there so that
you can merge it. We actually had both entries in our 6.[23] passwd,
but removed the duplicate for 6.5 because pwconv didn't like it.

Not sure what happened here. The entry is in /srvd/etc/services,
and the 8.3.0 update adds /etc/services to $CONFCHG. Do you have a
services.old?
