Derek had trouble logging in because he uses sipb tcsh, and we have:
set host=$HOST
in our central cshrc. It looks like sipb tcsh doesn't define $HOST.
(This was on Solaris.)
This looks like it will break everyone who uses sipb tcsh. The right
answer might be to hack or update sipb tcsh, but we should certainly
do something.
