Strange lpr behavior

When I try to print with lpr under 8.3 I get the following:

lxs@ethanol: lpr -Pnil directions
Warning - Cannot open file 'h', No such file or directory
Warning - Cannot open file '-Pnil', No such file or directory
Status Information:
 sending job 'lxs@ethanol+375' to nil@localhost
 connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1
cannot open connection to localhost - Cannot assign requested address
Make sure LPD server is running on the server
job 'lxs@ethanol+375' transfer to nil@localhost failed

I can't figure out where the h is coming from. lpr is not an alias.
I do "setenv LPROPT -z" in my .environment.

Oh and I may be losing because there was a previous LPRng server
installation on my machine, and I also ran the broken opprint mkserv
script when I updated. Hence, it's probably not your problem but if
someone would help me fix my machine, that would be swell.
