The SGI support web site mentions this in a caveat for one of the patches
in the recommended patch set for the O2:

    Patch 2359 may result in the following console and SYSLOG messages being 
generated:
        unix: MVP: Audio/Video Interface(AV1) 4 out of 6 chips didn't respond. 
        unix: MVP: Audio/Video Interface(AV1) 2 out of 6 chips didn't respond. 
    These are normal messages; they do not indicate a problem.
