no tokens?

I had severe problems logging into bobbi-harlow today, which
is a machine running 8.1.

During login, my .environment file takes actions which try to modify
files in my account. These actions failed, "permission denied."

To test and see if it was some sort of AFS problem, I changed my
home directory to have system:anyuser l bits, and tried logging
in with the F2 "Ignore Customizations" menu option.

I was logged in without any error messages, but was left with
a prompt of "> " and no AFS tokens, which seems different from
what I remember the last time I tried logging in with customizations
turned off. I couldn't change my the permissions on my home directory
back to "rl" until I had run the aklog command.

Someone suggested that this might have been caused by my
home directory being already attached to the machine before
I tried to log in. It is true that I was logged onto the
machine at 2am last night; perhaps it was still around from
that time.
