What were you trying to do?
Update a machine (to 8.1 alpha release) remotely.
What's wrong:
Under 8.1, the machine runs "mkserv update" after it reboots
to the new OS. Unfortunately, the only possible place for
asking questions at that point is the console. This makes
remotely updating a machine with "mkserv remote" impossible.
What should have happened:
This condition should at the very least be pointed out in the
release notes, for people who are used to being able to do a
remote update.
In fact, it might be worth while to have update_ws (when run
manually) print out a warning and pause if it is being run on
something other than the console. [I'd check how easy this is
to test for, but I'm writing this remotely over Tether. =)]
For my wish list, though, there should be a way of performing
a remote update by typing a command. auto_update isn't quite
it, since
(1) it won't update to a test release, and
(2) it always runs desync, which is potentially annoying.
