Sparc5 7.7N afs problem?

I just took the update on my machine (whirlwind). When I logged in,
the following message appeared on the console window:
afs: byte-range lock/unlock ignored; make sure no one else is running this program.
I have no idea what it means. Everything seems to work.
My login starts up 'tc' and 'xrn', and enables some xhosting,
if that is any help.
