Is the Sun 7.7L update supposed to PANIC?

I figured I'd synch in my sun to the packs it was using, so I took the update.
Or I tried to.
It went quite well until it said:
Adding /dev/audio <and something about a sparc 5>
And then it panic'ed
and Rebooted
and complained of files on root being unreferenced (a couple of size > 400 K)
and it cleaned them up
and it rebooted again
and now it SAYS it's taken the update just fine.
Should I believe it?
