What were you trying to do?
Receive syslog messages from various programs
What's wrong:
The only syslog messages I ever see are from syslogd starting
and exiting.
What should have happened:
All program's syslog messages should be recorded.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
I think this is probably why sendmail didn't appear to be
syslogging. I believe that su doesn't actually syslog, but
just appends to the appropriate logfile, which is why it still
works.
