backspace and delete keys work unexpectedly on updated Sun

Hi!
On a non-updated Sun, both the key labelled "backspace" and the key
labelled "del" will move to the left while erasing characters, and
will stop when they get to my prompt.
On the updated Sun, the key labelled backspace doesn't do anything.
The key labelled "Del" moves the cursor to the left, but doesn't
appear to erase any characters. Also, it doesn't stop when it hits the
prompt, but instead just keeps on moving up to the next line.
You know how I type; this is a critical fix for me! :-)
