I added the middle (commented) line to ~/.cshrc:
set initdir=/usr/athena/lib/init
setenv hosttype `machtype` # for compatibility with sipb tcsh
if (-r $initdir/cshrc) then
and we'll see tomorrow morning if it works. (I'll let you know!) One
more thing -- I don't know if it's germaine -- when I typed "logout" at
the > prompt, it replied "not a login shell". "Exit" exited the shell,
and I had to use the dash logout button to really log out. Logout works
just fine via dialup, though.
Do I need to worry about this dire warning in ~/.cshrc?
# WARNING: If you revise this .cshrc file, you will not automatically
# get any changes that Project Athena may make to the system-wide file at
# a later date. Be sure you know what you are doing.
I.e., is the "setenv hosttype `machtype`" fix a bad idea for the long-run?
Thanks very much for your help!
Jeff
P.S. You didn't have any printer inspirations, did you? :-)
