Well, I was about to report the problem to IBM, when I decided to first
check tardis' configuration (AIX 3.1.8 vs. 3.1.6 that is in the field).
It appears that IBM has corrected the problem in its later releases.
All I can say is that Athena has been using older versions of AIX and
compilers than the developers use... (both Lucien and I use more recent
software).
I know this doesn't help you, but I am at a loss for what to do except
to edit the file on rosebud. There are several problems that have been
fixed in 3.1.8 which help developers, but the upgrade to 3.1.8 was
rejected. Supposedly the next upgrade will be to 3.2.x (supposedly
3.2.2 is being shipped now...)
