In the draft release notes there's some stuff in the back about
private workstations, and particularly about bringing one's name up in
the login window. I did that successfully on my workstation,
carelessly thinking that since it was on my desk it was a "private
workstation". However, each time the system goes to a new version, I
lose my name file. It finally occurred to me (with Dot's help) that I
lose the name on reboot because my workstation really isn't a private
workstation, since it has public=true set even though it's in my
office. I keep my workstation as a public workstation on purpose, so I
always see what random users see.
Perhaps it's worth a sentence to say that the automatic-name feature
only works "permanently" if public=false.
At a more difficult level, should it perhaps NOT work at all on a
public machine?
