Staff testing of release 7.3 will begin tomorrow. First of all,
please remember to logout tonight before you go home so that your
workstation can update.

If you have not explicitly prohibited your workstation from taking
automatic updates, then it will be running 7.3 when you come in
tomorrow. We have surveyed E40 and B11 and attempted to come up with
the correct list of workstations for staff test. If your workstation
is not getting the staff test and you would like to, please send a
message to testers@athena.mit.edu asking to get the test.

If your workstation must be updated by hand, then:

	1. logout and let the workstation deactivate
	2. select "Shut down window system" at the login screen
	3. press and release the control key
	4. login as root (default password is "mrroot").
	5. run
		cat /srvd/.rvdinfo
If it says Version 7.2R, then your workstation is not setup
for testing, and you should send email to testers@athena,
	   and should type
		exit
now to be able to use this workstation at release 7.2 today.
	6. run
		/etc/shutdown now
It will take about 30 seconds for the machine to shutdown.
You will see a warning of the form "WARNING: Something is
hung (won't die); ps axl advised". You may ignore this warning.
	7. press <RETURN> at the # prompt and make sure a new prompt
appears on the next line. If it appears on the same line,
	   run
		/usr/ucb/reset
	   to fix the problem.
	8. run
		/srvd/update_ws
This may ask you to press <RETURN> or prompt you for more
	   information.
	9. after it says the update is complete, type
		/etc/reboot -q

The release notes are available in the mail rooms in E40 and building
11. Please send any bug reports to bugs@athena.mit.edu, and be sure
to specify which release you are running if you do not use the
'sendbug' program.
