From: dryfoo@ATHENA.MIT.EDU (The Rt. Rev. Wor. Dr. Y. Foo) To: testers@MIT.EDU Date: Thu, 25 Jul 91 16:46:18 EDT hi, i just took the update, as a fiendly-tester, and i have some questions. 1) is there still a file /etc/version ?? is there something new to take its place? I can't find it. 2) same questions about /etc/rc.conf 3) i tried to read the man page on mkserv, it's not there, or i can't get to it. did it move, or did man paths get munged? etc? 4) i used mkserv to re-enable telnet access to this machine (thelonious) and it gave me about ten thousand lines of this stuff: Copying symbolic link /srvd/usr/athena/xzwrite . Copying link to /site/server/usr/athena/xzwrite from /srvd/usr/athena/xzwrite, mode is 00755. Copying symbolic link /srvd/usr/athena/zaway . Copying link to /site/server/usr/athena/zaway from /srvd/usr/athena/zaway, modeis 00755. Copying symbolic link /srvd/usr/athena/zctl . Copying link to /site/server/usr/athena/zctl from /srvd/usr/athena/zctl, mode is 00755. Copying symbolic link /srvd/usr/athena/zleave . Is that what mkserv is supposed to do? (This is the first time I used it, instead of screwing around with conf files, etc, myself.) Awaiting your answers, I remain, bewilderly yours, -- Gary
