Glitches in new login program

1) It doesn't put up a console window. Given how long it takes for
athena to get through the standard dotfiles, this is real annoying.
(My only dotfile customizations are to set my window manager to twm,
and to mount the sipb filesystem; I doubt either one of these makes
a difference).
2) I don't know whether this was the new login program, or some other
aspect of the new software, but I'll say it in any case: the initial
xterm came up with the 'crt' bits reset on its pty, which makes the
delete key appear not to be working, and has sundry other unpleasant
effects.
Aside from that, I really do like the new look.
