Subject: Message claiming to be from swrt@mit.edu today!
- --------------------

Good Afternoon,

Earlier this morning you may have received a message claiming to be from
swrt@mit.edu with an attachment entitled readme.exe. That message is NOT
from the Software Release Team.

Do NOT open the attachment as it is the new W32/Minda.a@mm (aka
W32.Nimda.A@mm) virus that has been going around this morning. The machine
sending out the forged e-mail, which is not in any way affiliated with the
Software Release Team, has been removed from the network.

The virus is spreading through both IIS and Outlook Express
vulnerabilities. If you use either of these tools, you should be sure to
apply all available security patches regularly.

If your machine has become infected by this virus, please disconnect it
from the network to prevent any further spread. NAI and other
organizations are working on disinfection instructions. When the
instructions are available they should be available at the following urls:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/virusSummary.asp?virus_k=99209
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.nimda.a@mm.html
