Subject:TSM for Windows 4.1 Product Release Effort Underway
-------------------------------------------------------------

Hi.

Recently Tivoli made available version 4.1 of its TSM backup client
for Windows. Since then, a release team has been convened whose intent
is to create a customized installer, update documentation and ensure
that support areas are ready when the product is released.

Timeframe
----------
Our goal is to have TSM 4.1 ready for distribution by the second week of
October.

Fixes in the new release
-------------------------
TSM for Windows 4.1 includes fixes to accomplish the following:
  - recognize daylight-savings change properly
  - permit automatic internal password changes

In addition, the new MIT installer will:
  - provide a more convenient installation process
  - include the new MIT TSM 'ADSMB' server settings
  - Setup automatic exclusion of cache and temp file from backup

Testing
-------
We will be soliciting testers within the next two or three weeks and
will send a separate message with details.

Status of Release Effort
------------------------
Within the next month we will have more information available
regarding our testing and the status of the release.

In the meantime, you can go to http://web.mit.edu/swrt/tsmwin/ for
further review of the team's efforts.
