We are pleased to announce that the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 release
effort is moving forward. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 is Red Hat's
premier, enterprise grade version of the Linux operating system. It is
the successor of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0. We hope to fully support
version 4.0 and give customers the option to upgrade from 3.0 to 4.0 as
quickly as possible.
Notable Features of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 include:
Based on the latest Kernel, version 2.6
New Network Manager GUI to configure Network
New Plug and Play hardware support system.
SELinux (Security Enhanced Linux) support
Firefox
New OpenOffice Version
Evolution 2.0
GNOME 2.8
Standardized ABI (Application Binary Interface)
X server from X.org replaces server from the XFree86 project.
