Good day:

IS&T is pleased to announce the release and support of Adobe Reader 7 for 
both the Windows and Macintosh platforms.  Version 7 is currently 
unavailable for the Linux platform, however, a release from Adobe is 
expected soon.  Adobe Reader 5.08 is the current recommended and supported 
version for Linux.  Unlike previous Reader releases, the team has created 
additional documentation and provided many links to various sources of help.


Notable features:
--------------------------
Quicker launch times than previous versions
Enhanced selection tool for rapid selection of text and images
Extended search capabilities to search for words in annotations, bookmarks, 
form fields, or metadata within open PDF files or any PDF file on your 
local machines
New options to detach and locally save attachments to PDF files
Added and improved capabilities for accessibility
  - use keyboard navigation
  - adjust font sizes, as well as view document in high contrast mode
  - use Adobe Reader with popular screen reading and magnification products
  - save PDF content as text
  - adjust reading order and reflow as needed

Known issues:

PDF pages do not consistently appear in the web browser window.  For more 
information on this issue and for a fix, please

How to obtain:

We encourage the MIT community to take advantage of the new features of 
this version by upgrading to version 7.  Adobe Reader 7 can be downloaded 
from the MIT Software Download site: http://web.mit.edu/software/.  Please 
note that you need a current personal certificate to download this 
software. If you do not have a current personal certificate, then you can 
obtain one from https://ca.mit.edu/ .
