A few months ago the TSM MAC Release Team discovered some compatibility
issues when testing the new TSM Mac 4.1 client software. These
incompatibilities were potentially very serious as they impacted the
ability to restore previously backed up data. The team made a key
decision at the time to proceed with the TSM MAC 3.7 client. Since then,
we have worked with the vendor who has provided us with updated TSM MAC 4.1
client code that includes a fix for those problems.
We apologize for the delay and have adjusted our timeline to reflect a
release date of May/June 2001. The major work remaining is refining and
testing of the MIT TSM Macintosh installer as well as continued testing
of the new TSM Mac 4.1 client software.
We are planning to begin community testing of the new client by the
first or second week in May. Anyone interested in testing the client
should contact Deb Bowser, (bowser@mit.edu) or call her at 3-3879.
